Christine Gregoire signed Substitute Senate Bill 5664 to change the name of Lake Washington Technical College to Lake Washington Institute of Technology, effective July 22, 2011. Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWIT) was founded in 1949 and offers affordable professional and technical training for today’s job market. Training is available in 35 programs, with more than 100 professional / technical degree and certificate options. LWIT is one of 34 community and technical two-year institutions of higher education in Washington state.
